Abstract

Governments, as primary actors, bear comprehensive responsibilities and obligations, as they are essential institutions tasked with fulfilling the needs of their citizens. Due to their heightened vulnerability, children require special protection and care. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) are two significant international documents that outline a series of obligations for governments concerning children. Given the importance of this issue, the research question posed is: What is the duty of governments regarding children's rights under the CRC? The author's hypothesis is that these two documents define specific obligations for governments concerning children's rights. To address this research question, a descriptive-analytical method was employed, and data collection was conducted using library resources. The findings of the research indicate that, under the CRC, governments are obligated to protect and ensure the rights to life, security, education, nationality, and support for children with disabilities.
