The Salamat Academic & Research Journal continues its commitment to advancing medical and public health scholarship with the publication of Volume 2, Issue 1. This edition presents a range of original research articles exploring timely and regionally relevant topics, including fast food consumption among university students, the clinical characteristics of chronic tonsillitis, BMI trends among medical students, pediatric immune thrombocytopenic purpura, and depression among glaucoma patients. Complementing these studies are review articles on global microplastic contamination in food chains, the role of international legal frameworks in public health, and two decades of malaria data in Afghanistan. The issue also features a rare case report on dorsal urethrocutaneous fistula following hypospadias repair.
