Manuscript Preparation

In this section, the Salamat Academic & Research Journal covers all its structural terms and principles that must be adhered to by the author and the journal in a scholarly article. All fonts, formats, samples, and other necessary stylistic elements required by authors are uploaded on the university website. Authors must prepare their article following the following structural characteristics:

Content Structure

Manuscripts submitted to the Salamat Academic & Research Journal must include a title page and the Blinded manuscript should adhere to the following characteristics:

Title Page

The title page must contain the following elements and be translated into both Dari and English:

  • Title: The title must be scientific and specialized and contain key main terms. The title must not include abbreviations.
  • Running Title: The running title must contain fewer than 40 characters.
  • Authors details:
    • The authors’ full name.
    • The authors' organizational affiliations.
    • The authors' email addresses.
    • Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID).

    • Funding statement.
    • Conflict of interest disclosure.
    • Ethics approval statement.
    • Patient consent statement.
    • Permission to reproduce material from other sources.
    • Clinical trial registration.

Blinded Manuscript

Manuscripts may be submitted as a single file (containing the main text, tables, and figures) or tables and figures may be submitted as separate files. If the manuscript proceeds to the review stage, figures and tables must be provided as separate files. The main text files of the manuscript should be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).

The main text file must be in Word format and include the following elements:

  • Title: mention the same title
  • Abstract: Structured (Introduction/Methods/Results/Conclusion) or unstructured depending on the type of article.
  • Keywords: Up to seven keywords. Keywords must be registered in MeSH (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/MBrowser.html).
  • Highlights: Authors may provide up to three "key highlights" that succinctly present the main findings of the article, summarizing the main message of their article. Providing highlights is optional.
  • Main body: The structured main body includes an Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion, arranged according to the type of article.
  • References. Vancouver style.
  • Tables: Each table is complete with a title and footnotes.
  • Figures: Legends should be supplied as a complete list in the text. High quality figures should be uploaded as separate files.

Authors Contribution

The list of authors should accurately illustrate who contributed to the work and how. All those listed as authors should qualify for authorship according to the following criteria:

  1. Have made substantial contributions to conception and design, or acquisition of data, or analysis and interpretation of data;
  2. Been involved in drafting the manuscript or revising it critically for important intellectual content;
  3. Given final approval of the version to be published. Each author should have participated sufficiently in the work to take public responsibility for appropriate portions of the content; and
  4. Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Contributions from anyone who does not meet the criteria for authorship should be listed, with permission from the contributor, in an Acknowledgments section (for example, to recognize contributions from people who provided technical help, collation of data, writing assistance, acquisition of funding, or a department chairperson who provided general support). Prior to submitting the article all authors should agree on the order in which their names will be listed in the manuscript.

The Salamat Academic & Research Journal adheres to the guidelines of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT taxonomy).

Research Reporting Guidelines

Accurate and complete reporting enables readers to fully appraise research, replicate it, and use it. Authors are encouraged to adhere to the following research reporting standards.

Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) Tools

Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) tools—such as ChatGPT and others based on large language models (LLMs)—cannot be considered capable of initiating an original piece of research without direction by human authors. They also cannot be accountable for a published work or for research design, which is a generally held requirement of authorship (as discussed in the previous section), nor do they have legal standing or the ability to hold or assign copyright. Therefore—in accordance with COPE’s position statement on AI tools—these tools cannot fulfill the role of, nor be listed as, an author of an article. If an author has used this kind of tool to develop any portion of a manuscript, its use must be described, transparently and in detail, in the Methods or Acknowledgements section. The author is fully responsible for the accuracy of any information provided by the tool and for correctly referencing any supporting work on which that information depends. Tools that are used to improve spelling, grammar, and general editing are not included in the scope of these guidelines. The final decision about whether use of an AIGC tool is appropriate or permissible in the circumstances of a submitted manuscript or a published article lies with the journal’s editor or other party responsible for the publication’s editorial policy.

Publication Ethics

All articles must comply with the ethical research guidelines of Jami University and the Salamat Academic & Research Journal. Authors are required to state that all research has been conducted according to these guidelines and in an ethical and responsible manner, and that no research misconduct has occurred, including but not limited to data fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, image manipulation, unethical research, biased reporting, author abuse, redundant or duplicate publication, and undisclosed conflicts of interest.

Similarly, reviewers are required to maintain the confidentiality of the peer review process and disclose any competing interests.

As noted in the Jami University publication ethics policy and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Code of Conduct, the Salamat Academic & Research Journal will investigate all allegations of misconduct and reserves the right to contact research institutions, employers, funders, or relevant national bodies. Additionally, please note that this journal uses similarity detection software Samim Noor and Turnitin to identify instances of overlap and similar text in submitted articles. Articles should have less than 25% similarity with registered works.

Authors are required to respond to editorial queries promptly and should be available post-publication to respond to raised critiques and cooperate with any requests from the journal for data or additional information if questions arise regarding the article. The Salamat Academic & Research Journal encourages authors to share research data that supports the results of their study, including raw data, processed data, software, algorithms, protocols, methods, and materials in an appropriate public repository. In such cases, authors should include a data availability statement, including a link to the repository they used, to be published alongside their article.

The Salamat Academic & Research Journal follows the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and its Code of Conduct

https://publicationethics.org/core-practices

Retractions, Withdrawals, and Expressions of Concern

The journal is committed to fulfilling its role in maintaining the integrity of the scientific record. We follow the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)'s core approaches and ethical guidelines for handling retractions, withdrawals, and expressions of concern.

Confidentiality

Salamat Academic & Research Journal maintains all details about submitted manuscripts confidential and does not disclose to any outside organization any information about the status of a particular manuscript. All communications with the journal are confidential, and authors and reviewers are expected to not reveal any information without prior permission.
